Daniella’s double-wedding gets warm reception with Cameron Clan

Daniella Ballou-Aares and Martin Aares, with members of Martin’s family in Norway.

Daniella Ballou and her partner of two years Martin Aares were married at an impromptu wedding ceremony in Norway last month but plan to have a follow-up wedding on 7 December, 2002, in New York, USA.

Daniella, the youngest sister of David Cameron, presently lives in London with her new husband Martin.

The small and quickly planned Norwegian wedding was decided “rather last minute,” and coincided with a month spent living in Norway with Martin’s family, said Daniella.

“We decided to have a ceremony in Norway in advance of one we had already been thinking about in New York,” said Daniella in a recent email to David. Ten members of Martin’s immediate family were able to attend the small ceremony, which was held at the City Hall.

The ceremony was followed by a brunch with Martin’s family, and then Daniella and Martin escaped for a one-night honeymoon.

“[We] went away for one night to a lovely place on the coast of Norway for a short
honeymoon,” Daniella said. “It was a wonderful event.”

Daniella and Martin are currently living together in London, and plan to stay there until January, 2003. However, they will return to Daniella’s home city of New York in December, 2002 for their second wedding.

“[We are] really looking forward to the opportunity to celebrate with a bigger group of friends and family” said Daniella, who plans to spend time traveling with Martin after their December wedding before settling into a New York apartment together in January.

Warm Reception in Australia

The news of Daniella’s wedding has been warmly received by Cameron Family members in Melbourne, Australia.

None of David and Lee Cameron’s six children are yet married.

“It’s a very exciting prospect for all of us here in Melbourne,” Virgil Cameron said. “Daniella is like the first family member of our generation to be getting married.”

Discussions of weddings have become frequent in Melbourne since the news of Daniella’s wedding reached the Cameron Family on Friday 13 September, 2002.

Talk of marriage amongst the Cameron siblings has been spurred by Daniella’s heart-warming descriptions of her New York wedding plans, according to John Cameron. John is popularly rumoured to be the most likely of David and Lee’s children to get married first.

“Daniella’s wedding sounds so nice. That’s the idea of a wedding that appeals to me,” John said. “Daniella’s idea that weddings can be a rare opportunity to express yourself to friends and family makes the notion of weddings seem all the more appealing.”

Nonetheless, John reassures us that neither he nor his long-time partner Yukima Payne have plans to be wed in the near or distant future. “I’m not at all suggesting that we are going to get married soon,” John stated emphatically. “And anyway, Mum’s the word as always.”

4:56AM 20-Aug-05: Kristin Engli Fladen: Hei Martin!
